My Design Journey
I was born and raised in a small town in northwest China. Growing up, I found myself drawn to various creative activities such as collaging, doodling, building with Lego, and appreciating artworks. Despite this inherent attraction, the thought of being a designer never crossed my mind, partly due to societal expectations and partly because I hadn't yet recognized the creative potential within myself.
Attending a comprehensive university - Sun Yat-sen University provided me with the opportunity to explore my interests more extensively. Alongside my studies in Finance & Management, I dived into diverse fields such as psychology, programming, and product design. It was during this time that I became fascinated by the transformative impact of digital products on people's lives. Thus, after graduation, I worked as a product manager, eager to create delightful user experiences.
My experience as a product manager enabled me to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including users, engineers, researchers, and designers. This invaluable experience not only solidified my understanding of the product development process but also ignited a newfound passion for product design - a perfect blend of my analytical skills and creative inclinations. In the spring of 2020, I made the bold decision to transition into a career as a designer. With the support of my family, I embarked on a transformative journey by enrolling in the Interaction Design program at the Glasgow School of Art.
For me, design is the art of problem-solving. The process of thinking across disciplines, researching effective solutions, and collaborating with professionals from diverse backgrounds is what I find most charming about design. I seek a creative team and hope together we can make a lasting and meaningful impact on people's lives, society, and the world we live in.
